We’re excited to share that Child Care and Early Childhood Education are now a part of the Ministry of Education. This move is especially exciting because it brings with it important early learning opportunities for children as well as financial support for families.
The Ministry of Education and Child Care supports families by providing better access to quality, inclusive child care. At Block 8 Academy, our primary focus is the safety and education of the youngest members of our community. We follow the Early Learning Framework- a structure created by The Ministry of Child Care and Education, the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and the Ministry of Health, designed to support educators and families.
With the framework as a base, Block 8 Academy strives to include a holistic approach to education and childcare that recognizes all areas of learning: physical, emotional, social, linguistic, visual, auditory, and intellectual while encouraging the development of critical thinking and encouraging the natural curiosity of children.
Choosing Early Childcare with Block 8 Academy means choosing an established childcare and education centre that follows the Early Learning Framework and also allows for multiple subsidies including The Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative and the Affordable Child Care Benefit. With the Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative, 5 days of care goes from $911.09 to only $366.09. This applies to all families. Additional subsidies are available for families with total annual income less than $120,000.
Matching SD43’s school hours, our school-time classes are 5.5 hours per day and include a preschool curriculum, plenty of outdoor time in our community, free play time and nap time for those who wish. We work with families to provide the amount of care needed; families can choose from 2- 5 days per week.
Our Early Childcare staff are all licensed and certified by the Provincial Early Childhood Educators Registry, all hold diplomas or degrees in early childhood education and have over 25 years of experience working with children and families.
