Moody Elementary Chaperone
​(On Call) 3:00 to 3:30pm ($10 per shift)


Get paid while you wait with your 4+ year old children!  
  • Are you at Moody Elementary after school everyday to pick up your children, and interested in occasionally waiting with other students until the shuttle arrives to take them down to Port Moody Arts Centre?  
  • If you have, or are willing to get your First Aid/ CPR certificate, and have ever taken a course in child development or leadership, then this might be a great fit for you.

  • Meet students as they exit the school at the 3:00pm bell.  Socialize with them and supervise play, ensuring their safety until the shuttle arrives.  

  • Required to have 20 hours of education in child development (many different courses qualify, including YMCA courses, lifeguarding, education, leadership)
Childcare Group Leader (On Call)
Afternoons:           3.25 hours, Monday - Friday, starting 2:15 or 2:45
Pay:                       $14 - $18.00/hour
Benefit:                 Possibility for your child (4+ years) to attend free of charge (contact us for more information)

Job Location:      Port Moody, BC

At this time, we are hiring on-call staff.  You do not need to be available for all shifts (we will list you for the days you are available).  High possibility for future increased hours if desired

Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to be considered:
  • Diplomas, certificates or other evidence of 20 hours of training related to child growth/development
  • Experience working with children in a child care/recreational setting
  • A current First Aid / CPR ticket
  • Consent to Criminal Record Check and ability to provide 3 professional references
  • Statement from a medical practitioner indicating adequate physical and psychological capability to work with children and carry out assigned duties.
Required license or certification:
  • Class 5 Drivers License
  • Clean driver's abstract (fewer than 4 pointable offences in the last 2 years)
  • Strong preference will be given to applicants with or willing to get their class 4 unrestricted driver's license.

After School Activity Group Leader / Youth Support Worker (Part Time)

* part time, 3 - 4 days a week 3:00 - 6:00pm
* full time for the month of July

* Pay $14 - $18.00/hour

Block 8 Academy is a progressive after school care centre for elementary students in Port Moody. We provide shuttle service from elementary schools to our location at Port Moody Arts Centre, a rich base curriculum, and access to studio class 'Supplemental' activities to enrich the students' days. Our program includes fun community projects, art, music, homework help, financial awareness activities, and outdoor recreation time.
We are looking for a Group Leader / Youth Support Worker to join our team.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable leading a group of children, and must have experience or education surrounding methods to support youth with challenging behaviours. The candidate should possess knowledge of positive behavioural support strategies and critical thinking skills. Some shifts will be with the general group, and some will be with the children requiring support.

Above all, you must enjoy working with children and consistently following care plans, creating a warm and supportive environment. Expertise in teaching any type of art, music, drama, or other recreational type program is a big asset.

Candidates must meet the following requirements in order to be considered:
- Experience working with children in a child care/recreational setting
- Energetic and positive approach to guiding childrens' activities
- Experience working with children with challenging behaviours
- Experience working in a team environment with little supervision
- Experience with providing structure to an individual in care
- Behaviour management
- Diplomas, certificates or other evidence of 20 hours of training related to child growth/development
- A Current First Aid certificate
- Consent to a Criminal Record Check
- Ability to provide 3 professional / personal references
