Dragon's Den style presentation to VanCity nets $500 start up capital for the business! Great job kids
-Earn, Learn, and Donate: From gigantic Lemon 'Aid' Stands at Golden Spike Days, to art sold at Port Moody Arts Centre 'Winter Treasures', learning about public speaking, planning, marketing, product positioning, budgeting, and bylaws is just the byproduct while the students earn and donate money to charities worldwide.
Student debates decide the recipients of the proceeds.
Recipients include Port Moody Ecological Society ($245), Port Moody Arts Centre ($200), Kiva.Org (over $300, being re-lent with ongoing micro-loans)
$190 Business Permit fee Forgiven by City Council
Did you know that Lemonade stands are illegal? Unless you have a business permit. The kids plead their case to City Council, and got their business permit fees forgiven. What better way to learn about bylaws, business permits, and get experience public speaking! (shown here immediately after their presentation)
