The Block 8 Academy Leadership Team was asked to participate in the Port Moody Ribfest Family Zone! The kids worked hard to plan activities that would be quick and enticing to kids of all ages. They had to stay within a budget, make sure that their activities did not cause any litter and keep in mind that everything needed to be brought in and set up as well as packed out when they were done. There was a lot of spontaneous and creative problem solving and teamwork!
Step 1: Planning!
The kids worked together to plan an obstacle course, face painting and a colouring station. They had to figure out what supplies were needed and how they would teach the kids the activities. |
Step 2: Practicing!
The kids then practiced teaching the obstacle course to our other campers. This is when they learned to modify a few things to better suit the needs of the group. They enjoyed practicing the face paint! |
Step 3: Engage!
Our Leadership kids helped pack up all our supplies and bring them to the venue. They then set everything up and were ready for "customers"! We spent Friday teaching children of our community their obstacle course and their pony game. Many faces were painted!
Many of the kids and our amazing staff came back on Saturday, on their own time, to spend the day inspiring and leading even more kids!
We're so excited to take on this adventure again in 2024!
