From Stage to Screen
Write scripts, act, and create short films!! All under the mentorship of industry professionals.
In this 7 week intensive (Saturday mornings), Sidney Quesnelle will lead the students through character development, set lingo, acting skills, working as a team, and what to do when the director yells "Action"!
Students will have the opportunity to work both on the stage and on the screen. Every day will start with improvisational theatre games and finish with collaborating on a short film from concept to creation. Throughout it all they will learn character development, set lingo, acting skills, working as a team, and just what to do when the director yells "Action!". At the end of the 7-weeks, students will have a screening of their original short films starring them.
Learn Resilience: Teachers who are currently working in the industry will help prepare the students for setbacks and adversity, and will help them learn how to keep an even keel through it all. Students will learn how to maintain an optimistic, proactive orientation when under duress.
Develop your Courage: Auditioning, acting for film and standing on a stage all takes an inredible amount of courage. Students will build on the confidence they already have, and be supported to expand their social confidence and tolerance for uncertainty
The session is a partnership between Theatre Terrific (a non-profit based in Greater Vancouver, which pioneers inclusive opportunities for artists of all abilities to develop performance skills and collaborate in the production of theatrical works) and Block 8 Children's Society (a non-profit based in Port Moody, which makes enriching programming available to children and youth with diverse abilities from all income brackets).
