Block 8 Academy is a progressive childcare centre in Port Moody. We have a before and after school care program for elementary students  and a play-based preschool program for children ages 2.5-5 years old.

Our before and after school program provides shuttle service from elementary schools, a rich base curriculum, and plenty indoor and outdoor unstructured time. This program includes fun community projects, art, music, homework help, financial awareness activities, and outdoor recreation time.

Our preschool program offers fun, play-based classes with daily outdoor time in the community, specialized music, French classes and PlayFit gym classes. 

We are looking for Group Leaders and Youth Support Workers to join our team, as we are expanding- again!

At this time we are NOT looking for ECEAs or ECEs.

We're looking for someone who is

• passionate about caring for elementary school aged children
• interested in working as part of an innovative team of caregivers to deliver unique programming
• comfortable leading groups of children and/ or
• experienced in methods to support youth with challenging behaviours
• experienced with positive behavioural support strategies and critical thinking skills (or have a desire to learn these skills as we do offer training!)
• energetic with a positive approach to guiding children's activities
• experienced working in a team environment

Above all, you must enjoy working with children while creating a warm and supportive environment!

And the fine print, we require:

• Diplomas, certificates or other evidence of 20 hours of training related to child growth/development
• A Current First Aid certificate
• Consent to a Criminal Record Check
• ​Ability to provide 3 professional / personal references
• A class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract is a bonus!

 Expertise in teaching any type of art, music, drama, or other recreational type program is a big asset!

During the school year, shift times are flexible, but we require you to be available 3-4 days a week either from 7:00am to 9:00am, or from 2:45pm to 6:00pm.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Salary: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
